On 8th November 2017 at the Communities Environment and Partnerships committee meeting the Conservative Council voted in favour of Hampshire County Council introducing a Tip Tax at Wade Road – a £1 blanket admission charge for all people entering the site. We can all guess that this will go up every year and the road leading into the tip will just have a longer tailback than ever as people pay at the gate.
So the quality of our environment will get worse with increased fly tipping and more bonfires reducing air quality even further.
Say NO to the Tip Tax and support your local labour councillor.
Why impose a “recycling”tax on visits to the recycling centre? In Basingstoke we already have one of the worst recycling records in the country. The Tories response – “let’s tax it”! Madness. We should be encouraging recycling not taxing it.
Thanks for commenting, I am also concerned about the long queues of traffic that will be caused as people go through the pay barrier.
